What counts as a deliverable?
Anything you have promised to hand over: a report, a drawing mark-up, a specification section, a site memo, a presentation. If it has an owner and a date, it belongs in the register. If it is only in an email thread, it will be forgotten.
Which properties does each deliverable need?
| Property | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Title | Title | What it is, in the client's words |
| Engagement | Relation | Shows deliverables on the engagement page |
| Owner | Person | One person |
| Due date | Date | The promised date |
| Status | Status | Not started, drafting, internal review, issued, client review, closed |
| Version | Text | P01, P02, C01 or whatever convention you use |
| Client comments | Relation | Linked review entries |
| File | URL | Link to the issued document |
How do you set up the views?
- 1
Due in 14 days
Filter out closed items, sort by due date, group by owner.
- 2
Overdue
Due date before today and status not issued or closed.
- 3
Awaiting client
Status client review, sorted by date issued, for chasing.
- 4
By engagement
A linked view on each engagement page.
- 5
Workload
Group the 14-day view by owner to see who is overloaded.
How do you manage client comments?
Log each client comment as an entry related to the deliverable, with your response and a status. When all comments are resolved, the deliverable can close. It keeps a clear record of what was asked for and what you did.
