Learn Notion for architecture and interior design

Learn Notion in this order: how pages and blocks work, then databases, then relations and views, then a Projects database for your studio, and finally workflows such as drawing registers, approvals and client portals. Everything on this path is free: our guides, curated videos and Shorts, Notion's own documentation and the best written tutorials.

Stage 1: the basics (about an afternoon)

  1. 1

    Read how to use Notion

Our guide for design studios covers pages, blocks, databases, views and sharing.

  2. 2

    Watch one beginner video

Pick one from the curated library and follow along on a practice page.

  3. 3

    Learn the shortcuts

A few keyboard shortcuts make daily use much faster.

Stage 2: databases, relations and views (a weekend)

Build a Projects database for your own work, then a Clients database and relate them. Add a board, a calendar and a filtered table. Notion Academy's databases course and Thomas Frank's databases tutorial are the clearest free teaching.

Stage 3: studio workflows (one per week)

  • Track projects: a step-by-step build.
  • Run a drawing register.
  • Build an FF&E schedule.
  • Track client approvals.
  • Make mood boards and a precedent library.
  • Share pages with clients safely.

Stage 4: speed up with a template

When you know what you need, a template can save days. See our comparison of the best Notion templates for architects and interior designers, or look at ArchitectOS and InteriorDesignOS ($79 each).
